« YAP » is a European active participation project bringing together the actions with the same objective but with different methodologies. It concerns a networking of pilot projects young people’s participation in their own social and professional insertion in society.

The main aim of “YAP” is to create and distribute coordinated methods and to spread the idea of European citizenship amongst young people.

This project, entitled “Adequacy”, originated from a local French action and is centred on social and professional integration through sport and training.
Through sport and training, “Adequacy” gives young people the responsibility for their own future and their place in society, but also encourages them to be autonomous.

Following a European study, “Adequacy”’s local partners have discovered that various other projects extolling the same values exist.
They then thought it necessary to give them a European dimension in order to engage in an exchange of perspectives and to encourage European citizenship.

Our European partners can be found in the following countries: Germany, Italy, Estonia, Poland, Spain and Greece.
We wish to work together to influence a citizen movement in European Youth concerning the social and/or professional insertion of young people in to society.

This networking facility is available thanks to the creation of a complex internet site with links to a forum for searching for adequacy projects. In order to make the most of these good practices, the YAP project is organising two seminars.

These two seminars will allow the professional workers and the young people to meet in order to come to an agreement on the expectations and the course of the YAP project.

In between the two seminars, the partners will be invited to test each others methods as well as the possible methodologies of the organisations through the actions.
Free in their approach but supported by their trainers, it is the young people who have the initiatives and the responsibility to improve the local actions concerning social and professional insertion into society.

France has already anticipated organising an Action 1, Youth exchange project through the Youth Programme in May 2006, within the framework of the Official Day of Europe. This action will be called : "European Youth meeting with the people of Marseille".

It has taken two years for the YAP project to set up an active and perennial network. It started in December 2004 and will finish 30th November 2006.
